Ruth Westreich Sponsors John Weeks’ The Integrator Blog: Why it Matters
By Glenn Sabin
My friend and colleague John Weeks recently announced that philanthropist and integrative medicine strategist Ruth Westreich made a generous two-year commitment to sponsor The Integrator Blog.
This news largely flew under the radar. It shouldn’t have. Weeks’ steadfast publication of The Integrator Blog has been enormously helpful to the integrative health and medicine field for many years.
Several years ago when I was planning the launch of FON, and ‘going to school’ on the emerging field of integrative health and medicine, I discovered the work of John Weeks and The Integrator. At the time, no outlet was consistently or comprehensively covering all aspects of the field. While there were and remain a number of outlets covering the science and clinical implications of integrative and functional medicine, there was nowhere to turn for the latest happenings across the fledgling industry.
Only through the Integrator was I able to discover the latest news on credentialing and licensing across disciplines, policy matters, new clinics, centers and health systems entering the fray, and other business matters most affecting the growth of the integrative health industry. I am grateful to John for how this incredible resource has helped inform the development of FON.
Today Weeks remains the most prolific scribe covering the most important happenings in the field, penning upwards of 150,000 words annually across his various writings, including the Integrator. More recently he has expanded his brand with The Global Integrator column in partnership with Global Advances in Health and Medicine Journal, and also contributes columns to a number of additional outlets.

My personal and professional affection for John Weeks is well known. He has chronicled the field and been its de facto historian since 1993. In 2014 I envisioned a Tribute to John, in collaboration with the Integrative Health Policy Consortium, the Academic Consortium for Complementary and Alternative Health Care and the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health, which featured this 68-page book.
Regardless if you are new to the industry or a veteran, if you desire to keep abreast of what’s happening in the fast-evolving integrative health and medicine industry, the Integrator is essential reading. And now, thanks to a generous gift of $40,000 over the next two years from The Westreich Foundation, plus additional support from Integrative Practitioner, this invaluable resource will continue to be available to you free of charge.
